Skim USA Tour athletes set to slide back into action after year’s long flat spell

VERO BEACH, FLA. – The 2021 Skim USA Skimboarding Tour is on after taking a break from competition in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Professional and amateur skimboarders will look to get back into form during the Inaugural Shore lb. Throwdown at Mulligan’s Beach House in Vero Beach next month. As first stop of Skim USA’s six-contest tour of the Eastern Seaboard, competitors will be vying for valuable points in an effort to bolster their championship aspirations.

“It’s an honor to host the first contest of the year and we will be following strict safety guidelines as we bring the skim community back together for the first time in a year,” Chris Ellison, Chief Extreme Officer of Shore lb. said. “Skimboarding contests will be forever changed because of COVID-19, so we’re moving forward with an abundance of caution as the tour comes back to life after the year-long hiatus. Contactless online registration, live scoring, sanitation stations and protective face coverings are changes we’ll all need to be embrace as we adjust to this new era of competition.”

The Shore lb. Throwdown takes place at Mulligan’s Beach House, Sexton Plaza Beach, 1050 Beachland Boulevard, Vero Beach, on March 13 and 14. Due to COVID-19 protocols, registration has been moved online and must be completed in advance by visiting

A rider’s meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 13, with competition commencing at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. March 14 on the beach in front of Mulligans.
